A premiere specimen of 1970s "Art to Wear," this Cadoro necklace is a foundational piece from a private archival collection. Founded in Manhattan in 1954 by Steven Brody and Daniel Stoenescu, Cadoro (derived from the Venetian Ca' d'Oro or "House of Gold") specialized in bold, sculptural designs that blurred the line between costume jewelry and fine art.
The Egyptian Revival series is among the house’s most sought-after work, characterized by high-density castings and a sophisticated "hand-wrought" aesthetic. Authentic Cadoro pieces like this one were featured in the high-end galleries of Saks Fifth Avenue and are now held in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
